This Is the Real Black History They Tried to Erase

  • How the African slave trade really began — and the brutal systems before America’s first slave ships arrived.

  • The truth about stolen identities, stripped languages, and cultural erasure.

  • The rebellions, uprisings, and acts of defiance that proved our spirit could not be broken.

  • Why survival itself became a radical act of resilience.

You’ll walk away with pride in your roots, clarity in your history, and the fire to carry your legacy forward.

Why I had to Write this Book

The Designs Were Just the Beginning…

I’ve always believed that what we wear tells a story. Not just fashion — but history, identity, pride, resistance.

That belief gave birth to Black Knowledge Wear, my clothing brand built around honoring Black American history. Every design required hours of deep research — digging into stories most people never hear.

And what I found was devastating:
Our story had been buried, rewritten, watered down. Centuries of resistance, innovation, and triumph — reduced to a few textbook paragraphs.

I couldn’t let that stand.

So I went deeper.
At first, it was for my designs. But it became a calling — not just to design clothes, but to preserve a legacy.

That’s how From Chains to Change was born.
A four-part journey through our real history — told by us, for us.

This Isn’t Just Emotion — It’s Scholarship, Legacy, and Lived Experience

Every chapter of From Chains to Change is grounded in real research, powerful primary sources, and the work of iconic Black scholars, historians, and truth-tellers.

This book draws on the same sources that have shaped national conversations about race, resistance, and justice — but delivers it in a format that’s accessible, emotional, and unapologetically Black.

Your journey through this book is backed by voices like:

  • Michelle Alexander – The New Jim Crow

  • Angela Davis – Women, Race & Class

  • Frederick Douglass – Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass

  • Isabel Wilkerson – The Warmth of Other Suns

  • Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor – From #BlackLivesMatter to Black Liberation

  • Edward Baptist – The Half Has Never Been Told

And many more voices who’ve risked everything to document our struggle — and our strength.

This isn’t theory. This is truth that’s been buried, ignored, and now finally brought to light.
